Hedges do real work on a commercial property. They screen perimeter walls, enclose pool areas, hide equipment and frame entrances. When they are cut wrong, the bottom goes bare, gaps open along the wall, and a hedge at the exit grows until drivers cannot see oncoming traffic.

Green Image provides commercial hedge trimming for HOAs, condo associations and commercial properties across Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade. We trim to a set height and shape for each hedge, keep sight lines open, and document every visit.

Commercial Hedge Trimming for HOAs and Commercial Properties

Where Hedges Matter Most

  • Entrances and exits: hedges near driveways and turns are kept low enough that drivers can see traffic and pedestrians.
  • Perimeter walls: kept full from base to top so the screen has no gaps.
  • Pool fences: trimmed so the fence and gate stay clear and the hedge does not push through the fence line.
  • Walkways: cut back from sidewalks so residents are not brushing past wet foliage.
  • Equipment screens: around electrical equipment, dumpsters and pumps, with access left open for service crews.

Hedge and Shrub Maintenance for HOAs

Good hedge work follows a few rules every crew should know.

  1. Wider at the base: the bottom is cut slightly wider than the top so light reaches the lower leaves and the hedge stays full.
  2. Set heights: each hedge has a target height recorded for the property, so it does not creep up a few inches every visit.
  3. Clean cuts: sharp blades, so the foliage is not torn and browned.
  4. Cleanup: clippings are removed from beds, walks and pool decks before the crew leaves.

Ficus and Clusia Hedges

Ficus and clusia are 2 of the most common screening hedges in South Florida, and each has its own issues. Ficus grows fast and needs frequent trimming, and it is prone to whitefly, which can strip leaves and leave bare sections. Clusia is slower and tougher but can thin out if cut too hard or kept too wet. When a hedge is declining, we look for the cause, such as pests, irrigation or shade, and report it with photos instead of just cutting around the bare spots. Pest issues are handled through our fertilization and pest control program.

What a Trim Visit Includes and What Is Quoted Separately

A regular trim covers shaping to the recorded height and width, cutting hedges back from walks, fences and lights, and hauling off clippings. Quoted separately: hard reductions of overgrown hedges, removal of dead sections, and replacement plants to fill gaps. Each of those is written up with photos so the board approves it before the crew starts.

Every Visit Documented

After each visit, the manager gets Every Visit Proof: photos of the work and notes on anything that needs attention, such as a dead section, an irrigation problem or a hedge that will need replacement. Replacements are proposed as landscape enhancements with photos and a named scope. Hedge trimming is part of our grounds maintenance program, and taller work near trees is coordinated with our tree trimming crews.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should commercial hedges be trimmed?

It depends on the species and the season. Fast growers like ficus need trimming more often during the rainy months, while slower hedges need less. We set a schedule per hedge and record target heights.

The usual cause is trimming the top wider than the base, which shades the lower leaves. Pests and irrigation problems are other causes. We diagnose it and recommend a fix.

Yes, but hard reductions are done in stages so the hedge recovers. We tell you up front how long it will look thin.

Yes. We trim both faces where access allows and keep fence lines, gates and walls clear.
