Palms line the entrances, pool decks and parking islands of nearly every South Florida community. They also drop dead fronds heavy enough to dent a car, and coconuts that can injure anyone below. When a frond lands on a resident’s windshield, the call goes to the manager, then to the board.
Green Image provides palm tree trimming for associations, condos, office parks and retail centers across Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade. We remove dead and hanging fronds, fruit and flower stalks on a set cycle, and we leave the green canopy the palm needs to stay healthy.

A palm makes its food in its green fronds. Every healthy frond removed is one less working leaf. University of Florida extension guidance recommends removing only dead or mostly dead fronds and leaving the green canopy in place. Our crews follow that practice and prune to industry standards:
A hurricane cut strips a palm down to a few upright fronds, on the idea that less canopy means less wind damage. It does the opposite. Overpruned palms are weaker, slower to recover, more prone to nutrient problems, and can develop a narrowed trunk section where the crown was starved. Extension researchers have warned against the practice for years. If a board asks for hurricane cuts, we explain the risk and propose a dead frond and fruit removal round instead.
The Atlantic hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30. Good hurricane season palm prep happens in April and May:
It depends on the species. Coconut palms and some others drop fronds and fruit through the year and often need more than 1 round. Royal palms shed their own fronds, which still need prompt pickup in parking and walkway areas. Queen and foxtail palms produce heavy fruit clusters that often call for separate palm seed pod removal. We set the cycle by species and location after the first walk and confirm it in writing.
After every round you get before and after photos tied to each area of the property, so you can answer resident questions and show the board the work was done. Palm work fits into our broader tree care program and our grounds maintenance crews spot problems between rounds.
Call us and we will count and inspect the palms on your property and send a written assessment with photos within 72 hours. Request a free quote or call (561) 309-9603.

Everything a board should check before it signs a landscape contract.
Only the dead and mostly dead fronds, plus fruit and flower stalks. Green fronds feed the palm and should stay. Removing healthy fronds weakens the palm over time.
No. Overpruning palms weakens them and slows recovery, and it does not make them safer in wind. The better prep is removing coconuts, seed pods and dead fronds before June.
No. Spikes leave wounds in the trunk that never heal. Our crews use lifts or other methods that do not damage the palm.
We coordinate parking closures with the manager before the work day and mark the work zone during trimming. Debris is removed from the lot before crews move to the next area.
